The Read Aloud
The Story

Amy is a mother to 3 boys and an USMC spouse of 10 years. She is passionate about creating physical activity programs that benefit the overall well-being of military children, families, and the surrounding communities, and is an advocate for military spouse employment. She has been through a handful of deployments with her boys and has coached thousands of kids through her business Tiny Troops Soccer, so she knows first-hand that particularly in times of stress, it is VITAL to engage children in fun, physical activities to help them lead active lifestyles that will boost their physical, mental, and emotional health.
In her first book, “I Will Be Okay – Adventures of a Military Kid” she depicts a military child named Roman. When Roman’s daddy is deployed, it’s hard on him, his mommy, and his little sister Charlotte. Even Roman’s beloved Grammy isn’t going to come for a visit for quite some time. Roman’s mommy signs him up for soccer and although Roman and his stuffed lion sidekick, Trooper, aren’t so sure about being in a new place with new people, they end up playing fun games and learning how to play soccer, too! Along the way, Roman feels better and makes a new friend, Mason. Mason’s mom is deployed just like Roman’s dad. Soccer helps the time fly by for Roman and soon his Grammy comes for a visit. Even though it’s been a tough few months, Roman knows that everything will be okay!
Amy hopes that all military kids can relate to Roman’s story and learn that whether through soccer or another activity, it is important to keep them engaged, help them to feel a part of a community, and give them something to look forward to!
