Children often feel confused, scared, helpless, and even guilty when they see a loved one undergo a sudden and dramatic change. Many times, they no longer know how to interact socially with their loved one.

Jessica NaDona Sweet, MS, CCC-SLP, is a Neurological Speech-Language Pathologist on a mission. She has fourteen years of experience in the fields of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, and Dementia. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Florida State University as well as a double Minor in English Literature and Psychology.
Throughout her career, she found a plethora of education and resource materials for adults in the lives of people with neurological diseases and disorders. One thing, however, became glaringly obvious. Almost NO resources existed geared towards children! Yet, the children are affected.
Children often feel confused, scared, helpless, and even guilty when they see a loved one undergo a sudden and dramatic change. Many times, they no longer know how to interact socially with their loved one.
Jessica Sweet decided it was time to create resources geared towards them! Kids feel empowered and encouraged when they know what to expect, why their loved one may act differently for a while, and enjoyable ways they can still interact. Most importantly, children need to know that NONE OF THIS IS THEIR FAULT and it is healthy to talk about emotions with the caring grown-ups in their lives.
With all that in mind, Jessica Sweet created a series of four children’s books. Each targets a specific neurological disease or injury and includes an activities section at the end to help children and families have fun together in a cognitively therapeutic way! The titles of these affirming, positive, and FUN education books are:
“Papa Has Parkinson’s Disease”,
and “Nana Has Dementia”.
Available NOW on Amazon in paperback and on Kindle!
